Starting with the Seattle World’s Fair, Roy Williams, president of InstructoVision, spent 10 years at KIRO-TV News as Chief News and Documentary Cameraman. At KIRO-TV he received two Emmy’s, several Sigma Delta Chi awards, the First, Second and Third place awards from the San Francisco State Film Festival and the Washington State Press Photographers award (they give only one a year.)
While at KIRO-TV, Roy formed a film production company to serve advertising agencies and companies who wanted public relations or educational films. Cinema Associates became so successful Roy decided to go full time as President of the new company and built it into one of the largest film and video production companies north of Hollywood. The company produced an extensive library of “How-To” videos for the emerging video market. It’s seven producer shot films and videos all over the world, but Cinema Associates wasn’t able to survive it’s own economic crisis. It went out of business in 1983.
Roy started his career in broadcasting at age 15. At 21, he was made an Assistant Director for Wilding Picture Productions of Chicago – at that time the largest motion picture company in the world. He also worked as cameraman in the production of theatricals for Ken Anderson Productions of Indiana, Gospel Films of Michigan, and filmed short subjects for 20th Century Fox of Hollywood. He filmed and edited scores of documentaries seen on KIRO-TV, CBS-TV Network, PBS Network, KNXT-TV, WCBS-TV, and the BBC.
Roy won The Western Heritage Award from The National Cowboy Hall of Fame, (other winners include The Little House on the Prairie and Centennial.) He also won the First Place Award from the American Indian Film Festival, and several Cine Golden Eagles.

Mike started working with Roy before the age of 10. He didn’t start getting paid until he was the ripe old age of 12. He would come to the Seattle office after school to help the editors in the one million dollar editing suite. In high school he worked as part of the production team filming in Europe and Africa. Mike and Roy have been working side by side ever since. Now with close to 35 years of experience, he shoots and edits all of InstructoVision’s productions, while Roy writes and directs.
Roy and Mike have crisscrossed the United States seven times in a motorhome shooting TV documentaries, educational programs, and promotional videos.
