This film has changed how the history of American Indians is studied and taught. It shows the impact American Indians had on American history – featuring Dr Scott Momaday – the only Indian Pulitzer Prize winning author. Without question, it is our most successful film. It is still in use today – 30+ years after release. It won the Western Heritage Award from the National Cowboy Hall of Fame and First Place from the American Indian Film Festival.
